There is hard patching (actually modify the ROM file) and soft patching (put the patch along with the ROM, and the emulator applies it in memory). Hard to tell if you don't give details like checksums or patch link. I played through most of the way using the sd2SNES flash cart on the console, but the difficulty got tough enough that I eventually switched to emulator in the last part of the game. Maybe you didn't patch the ROM properly, or didn't use the right ROM. (I'm not exaggerating.) I really enjoyed this though I did get stuck a couple times. This is an excellent (and difficult) hack of the original game. I just played through Metroid Super Zeromission. I think there are more of those than for any other SNES game. Surprised that no one has yet mentioned Super Metroid hacks.
